Five Education are working with a specialist provision in Bridgwater that is seeking an experienced SEND Teacher or experienced SEND practitioner to join their team and provide additional leadership and support within a busy specialist resource base.
This is a unique role that focuses less on timetabled classroom teaching and more on supporting the day-to-day running of the centre, helping staff manage challenges as they arise, and ensuring pupils receive consistent, effective support throughout the school day.
You will act as an experienced presence within the central hub of the resource base, helping with problem-solving, guiding staff, and supporting pupils during the busiest parts of the day. The role requires someone confident in specialist settings who can think on their feet and provide calm, practical leadership.
The position is available to start as soon as possible, initially for at least 6 weeks, with a strong possibility of the placement continuing beyond this.
The Role:
- Provide additional leadership and support within the specialist resource base
- Act as a senior presence within the central hub of the provision, supporting staff during busy periods
- Support pupils with SEND, autism, and complex needs
- Use trauma-informed approaches to support emotional regulation and wellbeing
- Step in to assist with behaviour support, problem-solving, and maintaining a calm learning environment
- Work collaboratively with the existing leadership and SEND team to ensure consistency of support
What We're Looking For
- A qualified teacher or experienced unqualified practitioner with a strong background in SEND or specialist provision
- Experience working within a resource base or specialist centre (highly desirable)
- Strong understanding of autism and/or trauma-informed practice
- Confidence supporting staff and pupils in a fast-paced specialist environment
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND professional who enjoys supporting teams, solving problems, and making a real impact in specialist education settings.
