SEND Teaching Assistant (Primary ASD – Profound Needs)

PK Education are recruiting a compassionate and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with profound autism spectrum disorder (ASD) within a specialist resource provision attached to a primary school in the Stanley area of Wakefield.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with complex needs and helping them access education in a safe, structured and nurturing environment.

The Role

You will be working closely with pupils who have profound ASD and complex learning needs, providing one-to-one and small group support to help them engage with daily learning activities and develop life skills.

Responsibilities include:

Supporting pupils with communication, engagement and sensory regulation
Providing personal care when required
Supporting structured routines and behaviour management strategies
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
Helping pupils access learning through adapted activities and visual support
The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Has experience working with Autism / SEND / complex needs
Is calm, patient and emotionally resilient
Is comfortable supporting personal care needs
Has experience working in schools, care, support work or youth settings
Is passionate about helping children reach their potential
