TeacherActive is proud to be working with a welcoming mainstream primary school in Ripley, Derbyshire. The school provides a supportive and inclusive environment, with a strong focus on ensuring all pupils are able to access learning and feel valued within the classroom.

The school is looking to take on a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant on a long-term basis until the end of the summer term, with the potential to continue into September. The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will be working 1:1 with a non-verbal pupil in a Year 5 class, supporting communication, engagement and learning, working mornings Monday to Wednesday and full days Thursday and Friday.

The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will have: • Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) • Experience supporting children with SEND, ideally on a 1:1 basis • Experience working with non-verbal pupils or using communication strategies such as PECS or Makaton • Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach • Strong communication and teamwork skills • A proactive and adaptable attitude
