Overview
Penguin Recruitment is delighted to be working on behalf of a leading independent environmental consultancy to recruit a Senior or Principal Acoustic Consultant. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing renwables team and contribute to nationally significant renewables projects, including Development Consent Orders (DCOs), Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), and complex multi-disciplinary planning applications.

Responsibilities
As a Senior / Principal Acoustic Consultant, you will:
* Deliver high-impact acoustic assessments for major renewables projects.
* Lead and contribute to expert modelling teams, developing bespoke assessment frameworks.
* Craft compelling narratives to support successful planning outcomes.
* Engage with stakeholders, providing expert advice and evidence at public inquiries.
* Develop and apply analytical tools to shape decision-making at the highest level.
* Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to deliver innovative solutions.
* Undertake site and fieldwork in Leeds and other locations as required.
Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who demonstrate:
* A strong interest and experience in environmental acoustics. Particularly onshore wind or solar projects.
* Multi-disciplinary project experience, ideally including modelling and report writing.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills.
* Proficiency in data analysis, interpretation, and software such as MS Excel and Word.
* Understanding of UK and international noise legislation.
* A proactive, detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving abilities.
* A postgraduate degree in a science or engineering-based discipline or relevant chartership (desirable but not essential).
* Membership in relevant professional institutions, such as the Institute of Acoustics.
* A full UK driving license (travel may be required in Leeds and beyond).
Day-to-Day
Your typical day may include:
* Collaborating with colleagues to design and execute acoustic assessments.
* Engaging with clients and stakeholders to provide expert advice.
* Preparing clear and concise reports to support planning applications.
* Conducting site visits and fieldwork in Leeds and surrounding areas to gather data.
* Developing innovative tools and frameworks for acoustic analysis.
* Participating in team meetings to share insights and progress.
