Salary: Grade 8 (£28,669 – £30,134 actual salary)
Contract: Permanent, 37 hours per week, term time plus 2 weeks
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30am – 3:30pm (3:00pm finish on Fridays)

Successful and rapidly growing secondary school, established in 2011, now with over 1,000 students on roll. In response to continued growth, they have recently expanded their facilities, including a new teaching block opened in September 2025.

The Schools most recent Ofsted inspection judged the school to be ‘Good’, highlighting their welcoming and vibrant atmosphere, strong curriculum, and inclusive ethos.

The role

The school are seeking to appoint an experienced, organised, and highly motivated Senior Attendance Officer to lead on the operational delivery of their whole-school attendance strategy.

This is a key role within the school, requiring the ability to manage attendance systems, analyse data, and work proactively with students, families, and staff to improve attendance and engagement.

Key Responsibilities

- Manage and maintain accurate attendance records using school systems (e.g. SIMS)
- Monitor, analyse, and report on attendance data to identify trends and target interventions
- Work with the Educational Welfare Officer and pastoral teams to support students at risk of persistent absence
- Lead daily attendance processes, including follow-up of unexplained absences
- Communicate effectively with parents and carers to address attendance concerns
- Coordinate attendance interventions, including rewards and sanctions
- Manage referrals such as Children Missing Education (CME) and Fixed Penalty Notices
- Conduct home visits where required
- Produce reports for senior leaders, governors, and external agencies
- Provide guidance and training to staff on attendance procedures

The Ideal Candidate will

- Have strong administrative experience (experience in a school setting is desirable)
- Demonstrate excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Possess strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Be able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Be confident using ICT systems, including Microsoft Office (knowledge of SIMS desirable)
- Have a professional, resilient, and empathetic approach
- Understand safeguarding, confidentiality, and data protection requirements
- Hold GCSEs in English and Maths (Grade C/4 or equivalent)
- Hold a full UK driving licence (essential)
