The Role

We are seeking a highly capable Senior BMS Engineer with strong technical expertise and a

proactive, client-focused mindset.


This role goes beyond traditional service delivery.


You will be expected to:

• Drive system optimisation and energy performance improvements

• Identify upgrade opportunities and lifecycle improvements

• Support integration of smart and connected building technologies

You will operate as a senior technical representative of ACL in the field, delivering high-quality

service while supporting junior engineers and contributing to continuous improvement across

the business.


Key Responsibilities

Service, Maintenance & Fault Diagnosis

• Attend client sites to diagnose and rectify BMS faults across controllers, networks, field

devices, and plant interfaces

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance in line with service schedules

• Modify and install control panels and BMS hardware where required

Commissioning & Small Works

• Deliver commissioning activities for upgrades, retrofits, and optimisation works

• Execute small projects and remedial works to specification, on time and within scope

Energy & System Optimisation

• Identify energy-saving opportunities through system performance analysis

• Optimise control strategies (e.g. plant sequencing, scheduling, setpoint strategy)

• Provide clients with practical recommendations to reduce energy consumption and carbon

footprint


Client Engagement & Commercial Awareness

• Conduct site surveys and produce clear technical reports and recommendations

• Identify and support quotation of additional works and upgrade opportunities

• Build strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor


Technical Leadership

• Provide mentoring and technical support to junior engineers and apprentices

• Support the Service Manager in improving delivery standards and consistency

• Contribute to the standardisation of engineering practices and documentation

Compliance & Quality

• Ensure all work complies with company quality standards and relevant regulations

• Maintain accurate service records and reporting


About You

You are a technically strong and commercially aware engineer who understands that modern

BMS is not just about controls—but about data, efficiency, and system integration.

You take ownership, solve problems proactively, and look for ways to improve both systems and

service delivery.


Essential Requirements

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as a BMS/BEMS Service Engineer

• Strong knowledge of Trend controls (including legacy and IQ4 range)

• Experience with Tridium (AX/N4) platforms

• Electrical qualifications (C&G Level 2 or higher or equivalent)

• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding capability

• Good understanding of mechanical plant and HVAC systems

• Ability to work independently and manage workload effectively

• Full UK driving licence

• Strong communication and client-facing skills


Desirable

• Tridium N4 Certification

• Trend Expert (current or previous)

• Experience with CAFM / cloud-based systems (e.g. simPRO)

• Knowledge of system integration (e.g. HVAC, lighting, metering, IoT devices)

• Exposure to energy monitoring and analytics platforms
