Job Purpose: The Senior Business Analyst will take functional design accountability for a suite of applications. Working with business stakeholders to understand their short, medium and long-term business plans, the Senior Business Analyst will work with technical specialists to design and scope projects that will meet the short, mid- and long-term needs of the business. The SBA will collaborate with delivery managers to ensure work is planned and delivered as expected, coach a small team of BAs, and generate detailed customer-focused initiatives aligned with the IT department strategy, supporting execution and listening to customers to implement new ideas and ways of working that improve service both online and offline.
Key Responsibilities
Build strong relationships with key business stakeholders and help translate business need statements into business requirements.
Take functional accountability over a business area and provide end-to-end design principles when landing transformation projects.
Manage demand and new requests/requirements into the team to complete high-level assessments and work with the business to ensure that backlogs are refined and re-prioritised as needed.
Work with delivery teams to ensure they understand the requirements and priorities accordingly.
Help with roadmap planning for your relevant application area.
Drive best practice business analysis, learning from projects and driving continuous improvement with delivery, technical and test teams.
Line manage internal IT business analysts, setting realistic performance targets and providing informal and formal feedback.
Maintain a positive attitude towards feedback, use it to generate initiatives that meet/exceed expectations, and share feedback in a meaningful way.
Effectively manage the team, playing to strengths, proactively addressing opportunities, and ensuring wellbeing & diversity are considered and celebrated.
Manage the capacity and priorities of BA work across the team to ensure timely completion of impact assessments and BA deliverables for projects.
Perform BA activities on critical transformation projects, including elicitation, refinement of requirements (functional and non-functional), process redesign, functional design, documentation, and supporting defect analysis/management.
Ensure traceability from requirements through to test cases and results.
Understand and articulate the commercial value/cost of change relationship to support recommendations and priority decisions.
Facilitate business alignment where required on cross-functional projects.
Assist business stakeholders in defining roll-out plans, communication and training, and user support plans to effectively land any IT change into the business.
Create and/or review user manuals, procedures, and any related user documentation.
Support third‑party selection processes by providing input regarding business requirements.
Support the review of any third‑party contracts to ensure the needs of the business are met.
Contribute to post-implementation reviews to incorporate learning into future projects.
Occasionally undertake project management activities on small, discreet pieces of IT change work.
Key Stakeholders
Internal: Head of business team, IT Senior Leadership Team, Store Systems Team, E-Commerce and Corporate Systems teams, Retail Operations, CRM team, Group IT & eLab Tech, Group Security, Service and Infrastructure team.
External: 3rd Party Service Providers as needed.

Person Specification
5+ years of experience in a business analysis role with full end-to-end experience of the development lifecycle.
Experience within retail – either in a technology or a business role.
Tech-savvy with an understanding of data structures such as JSON and XML.
Ability to work on your own initiative.
Adaptable and flexible while responding to deadlines and workflow fluctuations.
Attention to detail, strong work ethic, and confidence to contribute significantly to a growing business.
Well organised and able to prioritise work effectively.
Customer-focused, with a consistent “can do” attitude towards the customer.
Good communication skills – written, verbal, and including presentations.
