Job Description

PBS (Semco UK) are looking for a Senior Buyer to join on a permanent basis to be responsible for leading and managing the procurement of complex and high-value goods and services for the company, ensuring that all purchasing activities align with strategic business objectives.


Details/duties:


  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that support the company’s operational and financial goals, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services.
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, negotiating contracts and agreements that deliver value and ensure continuity of supply.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives by identifying opportunities to reduce procurement costs through effective negotiation, supplier consolidation, and alternative sourcing.
  • Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and management of contracts with suppliers, ensuring that all contractual obligations are met and that risks are mitigated.
  • Ensure that all procured goods and services meet the required quality standards and that procurement activities comply with company policies, HSEQ standards, and legal requirements.
  • Monitor market trends, supplier performance, and industry developments to inform procurement decisions and identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to buyers and procurement staff, supporting their development and ensuring alignment with overall procurement strategies.
  • Generate detailed reports on procurement activities, including spend analysis, supplier performance, and savings achieved, providing insights to senior management.


Qualifications/Experience required:


  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Procurement, Supply Chain Management, or a related discipline desirable .
  • Extensive experience in a procurement or buying role, including strategic sourcing and supplier management, preferably within the energy or construction sectors.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to mentor and develop procurement staff.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Excel.
