Overview

Are you an experienced underwriter with a strong background in Construction and Casualty? Pen Underwriting is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our team. Youll play a key role in underwriting and managing new and existing accounts, using your expertise to provide a solid contribution towards income, profit & EBITDAC.

How you'll make an impact

Manage and grow a portfolio of renewal accounts, handling rating and adjustment queries.
Explore new business opportunities to expand your client portfolio.
Provide technical support on claim cover requests.
Collaborate with brokers, insurers, and internal teams like Accounts and Claims.
Review and approve referrals from Underwriters and Assistant Underwriters with precision.
Mentor and train junior team members, sharing your expertise and setting a high standard.
Analyse and interpret data to provide meaningful insights.
Develop a deep understanding of Pens coverage offerings.
Operate within your delegated underwriting authority and use our preferred insurance pool.

About You

Construction and Casualty underwriting experience.
CII/Dip CII qualification or equivalent and have A-Level education or similar.
Solid understanding of risk exposure and can assess complex situations with confidence.
Strong negotiation and trading skills, ensuring great results for clients, brokers, Pen, and insurers.
Skilled at servicing accounts and handling technical claim queries.
Proactive, organised, and able to plan and prioritise renewals and new business opportunities.
Clear communicator with excellent social skills, both with clients and colleagues.
Strong numeracy, literacy, and attention to detail.
Problem solver with a positive, can-do attitude.
Team player who takes ownership, shares knowledge, and strives for the best outcomes.
