Senior Civil Design Engineer - Birmingham City Centre \n £40k - £55k + Benefits\n\nAre you an experienced Civil Design Engineer ready to step into a senior role with real leadership responsibility? Our client, a well-established and growing engineering firm based in Birmingham city centre, is seeking a Senior Civil Design Engineer to lead projects, mentor junior staff, and collaborate closely with clients and project teams.\n\nThis role offers hands-on project management experience alongside a supportive senior team, providing the perfect platform to advance your career and take ownership of complex engineering schemes.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead and manage projects, maintaining direct client and third-party liaison\nCoordinate with project engineers, technicians, and senior team members to ensure smooth scheme delivery\nOwn risk management at both Health & Safety and commercial levels within your projects\nTake technical responsibility for drawings, calculations, reports, and design documents, reviewing and overseeing junior staff work\nUse design software independently, including AutoCAD, Causeway Flow, Civil 3D, KeySign, and Lighting Reality\nPrepare and review project briefs and proposals to allocate resources and plan delivery, while identifying additional work opportunities\nAnalyse technical challenges and develop innovative solutions and alternative approaches\nRole Details:\n\nSalary: £40,000 - £55,000 DOE, plus benefits (~£2,500)\nHours: 7.5 hours/day, Monday to Friday, with flexible working options\nLocation: Birmingham city centre office\nThe perfect candidate:\n\nClear, confident communicator with strong leadership skills\nProactive ownership of project management and delivery\nPassionate problem solver with a solid engineering mindset\nReliable performer in fast-paced, high-expectation environments\nAdaptable to evolving project requirements\nProven track record of leading projects to a high standard of quality\nIf you're ready to lead challenging projects and grow your career in a collaborative, ambitious team, we'd love to hear from you.
