Senior Civil Engineer\n London (Central)\n Permanent | Full-time\n\nI'm currently working with a growing, design-led civil and structural engineering consultancy based in Central London that is looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer as part of its continued expansion. \nThis is an excellent opportunity for an experienced civil engineer who enjoys hands-on technical delivery and is now looking to take on greater responsibility, with a clear pathway into team leadership as the civil engineering function grows.\n\nThe Role\n\nInitially, this is a delivery-focused position, leading civil engineering design packages across a range of building-led and development projects. As the team expands, the role will naturally evolve into a more strategic and leadership-focused position, working closely with senior management to help shape the direction, standards, and growth of the civil engineering team.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLeading the delivery of civil engineering design packages, including:\nBelow-ground drainage and SuDS\nExternal works and levels design\nHighways and access works, including S278 where applicable\nEarthworks strategies and cut/fill analysis\nCoordinating civil designs with structural engineers, architects, and other consultants.\nProducing and overseeing pre-planning deliverables such as Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategies.\nSupporting projects through detailed design and construction stages, including responding to technical queries and coordinating updates.\nPromoting best practice in the use of digital tools, including Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling software.\nReviewing and checking work as part of the internal QA process.\nMentoring and supporting junior engineers and technicians as the team grows.\nAssisting with fee proposals, client meetings, and business development activities where appropriate.\n\nAbout You\n\nDegree qualified in Civil Engineering (BEng or MEng).\nChartered or actively working towards Chartership (ICE or equivalent).\nStrong UK consultancy experience delivering civil engineering design for building or development projects.\nSolid technical grounding in drainage, SuDS, external works, highways, and levels design.\nConfident using Civil 3D and hydraulic modelling software such as InfoDrainage or MicroDrainage.\nComfortable working across feasibility, planning, detailed design, and construction stages.\nClear and practical communicator, able to explain engineering decisions to both technical and non-technical audiences.\nInterested in taking on increasing responsibility and helping to shape a growing civil engineering team.\n\nWhy This Opportunity?\n\nOpportunity to play a key role in a growing civil engineering team.\nClear progression towards a leadership position.\nExposure to a wide range of high-quality projects across London and the South East.\nAbility to influence technical standards, workflows, and delivery approaches.\nSupportive, professional working environment within a growing consultancy.\nIf interested, please get in touch!\n\nWill Herman \n (phone number removed)\n\nAldwych Consulting values diversity and promotes equality.
