With over 40 years of industry experience and a team of around 120 technical specialists, the business continues to grow through long-term client relationships, technical excellence, and a collaborative culture.As part of their continued expansion, they are looking to appoint a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Bristol office.This is a key technical role within the team, offering the opportunity to take ownership of drainage and infrastructure schemes while mentoring junior engineers and contributing to project delivery from concept through to completion.The RoleReporting to the Discipline Lead, you will play a leading role in the design and coordination of infrastructure projects across residential, commercial, education, leisure, public sector, and rail developments.Responsibilities will include:Leading detailed design of drainage, highways, and associated infrastructure worksProducing and reviewing technical drawings, calculations, and reportsPreparing and overseeing flood risk assessments and drainage strategiesManaging and coordinating project deliverables to meet programme and quality targetsUndertaking site visits, inspections, and surveys as requiredLiaising directly with clients, local authorities, and key stakeholdersSupporting and mentoring junior engineers and techniciansAssisting with tenders, fee proposals, and broader commercial activitiesThis role offers genuine autonomy, technical responsibility, and the opportunity to influence project outcomes, while remaining hands-on in design.Preferred ExperienceStrong experience using Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage (Causeway Flow preferred)Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3DDemonstrable experience delivering drainage and infrastructure design across residential, commercial, or mixed-use developmentsStrong understanding of UK design standards, SuDS principles, and planning processesExperience preparing flood risk assessments and drainage strategiesChartered status (ICE) or actively working towards ChartershipAbility to manage workload independently and support junior team membersStrong communication and stakeholder management skillsFull UK driving licence and access to own transportPermanent right to work in the UK with solid UK project experienceEngineers ready to step into a senior role, even if not yet Chartered, are encouraged to apply.Remuneration & BenefitsSalary between £45,000 - £57,000 depending on experienceHybrid working with flexible hoursMinimum 25 days holiday plus Bank Holidays, plus your birthday offOption to purchase additional leaveAnnual discretionary bonusPrivate medical insuranceContributory pension scheme (up to 5%)Cycle to work schemeSupportive, open-door team cultureFor a confidential discussion about this opportunity, contact Will Herman directly on 07581 619823.Aldwych Consulting values diversity and promotes equality.
