Senior Civil Engineer – Consultancy

Newcastle upon Tyne | Up to £48,000 | Permanent

An established and award-winning civil and structural engineering consultancy is seeking a Senior Civil Engineer to join its growing team in Newcastle.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the technical delivery of civil engineering projects, working from feasibility and planning through to detailed design and construction. Projects span residential and housing developments, commercial schemes, extra care projects, and wider public and private sector infrastructure.

You will lead the day-to-day delivery of civil engineering consultancy services, with a strong focus on highways and drainage design, including SuDS, Flood Risk Assessments and earthworks. The role involves producing drawings, calculations, reports and site appraisals, ensuring all work is delivered to programme, budget and in line with relevant UK standards and guidance. You will work closely with engineers of varying levels, providing technical support and mentoring where required, and liaise with clients, local authorities and statutory bodies.

Candidates should hold a degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering and have a minimum of four years’ post-qualification experience within a UK civil engineering consultancy. You will have solid experience delivering highways and drainage designs and a good working knowledge of UK planning procedures and design standards such as Sewerage Sector Guidance, Manual for Streets, DMRB and local authority guidance. Experience using software such as AutoCAD, MicroDrainage/Flow, Civil 3D, PDS or Causeway Live is expected, along with strong written and verbal communication skills. Experience working with residential developers is highly desirable.

The role offers a salary of up to £48,000, depending on experience, along with flexible working hours and a 35-hour working week with an early finish every Friday.
