Job Title: Senior Design Engineer (Civil Engineering - Water) Location: Coventry OR Derby (Other UK locations also available) Job Type: Permanent Role Industry: Water, AMP8, Non-Infra, Civil Engineering, Water Treatment, Waste Water, CSO, Structures Salary Range: £50,000 - £65,000 (Negotiable Based on Level + Industry Experience / Chartership etc)Our client, a Tier 1 Design & Build Contractor within the Water Construction industry is looking for a Civils bias Senior Design Engineer to join their Water team on a permanent basis. Being part of a diverse team, you will help to deliver design deliverables on AMP8 schemes, typically large Non-Infra Water projects, such as Water Treatment Work or Waste Water / Sewage Treatment Works projects (WTW / WwTW).As a Senior Design Engineer, you will work with Design Engineering staff internally, as well as Design Partners, to ensure feasible and compliant designs are created for water and wastewater projects, working with other Senior, Principal and Design Management professionals, to ensure designs feasibly incorporate other elements such as MEICA deliverables.Design will need to be checked, adjusted and sent for approval with Design Leads and as a Senior Engineer you will be responsible for mentoring intermediate and junior design engineers, providing technical direction on civil engineering design works, to ensure design work is fit for purpose.Daily responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Leading civil designs and managing design packages for Non-Infra Water projects, including RC Structures, Hydraulics, Drainage and associated Civil Engineering works.Coordination and liaison with multidisciplinary teams and supply chain.Preparation of high-quality design drawings and construction-ready documentation.Development of clear, structured design calculations and technical reports.Strong understanding of safety, health, quality, and sustainability principles.Ability to promote innovation and continuous improvement.Providing a commercial awareness of works including programme requirements.Mentoring and supporting junior engineers.Proactive problem-solving and decision-making. Candidates will ideally: Have worked as a Design Engineer within the Water industry, for a Tier 1 Contractor or Consultancy.Chartership with a relevant professional organisation such as ICE (preferred, not essential)Have a relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, such as a Degree of similar.Have experience designing water and wastewater works, such as Water Treatment / Sewage Treatment upgrades (including but not limited to: Pumping Stations, Tank Creation, Pipelines, CSO's and inlet works, Reservoirs etc)Have working knowledge of Construction Health & Safety, NEC contract requirements and Quality standards.Ability to produce and check engineering calculations, as well as creating technical reports.Understanding of hydraulics and hydraulic calculations (preferred, not essential).Experience liaising with clients and supply chain contacts on technical matters and design solutions.
