We are seeking a Senior Contracts Engineer to join our expanding team in Gloucester. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in estimating, managing, and delivering HVAC and mechanical services projects across diverse sectors including retail, leisure, warehouses, offices, and public sector developments.
Role Overview
- Lead and manage HVAC contracts from tendering to project completion.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, safety regulations, and contractual obligations.
- Act as the primary liaison between clients, contractors, and internal engineering teams.
- Provide technical and contractual expertise to support project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate HVAC contracts with clients and subcontractors.
- Monitor contract performance, variations, and claims.
- Ensure adherence to legal, financial, and technical requirements.
- Supervise HVAC system installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with site teams to ensure timely and quality delivery.
- Manage risks, resolve disputes, and ensure compliance with HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) standards.
- Review HVAC designs and specifications for compliance.
- Conduct performance testing and troubleshooting of HVAC systems.
- Provide guidance to junior engineers and contractors.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, and suppliers to align project goals.
- Prepare reports and updates for senior management.
- Support procurement and vendor management processes.
Candidate Profile
- Proven experience in mechanical engineering installation projects.
- Strong knowledge and/or experience in HVAC systems, industry standards and regulations.
- Background in commercial, industrial, or public sector projects.
- Experience in estimating and/or contract management.
- Technical and commercial acumen with strong problem‑solving skills.
- Experience preparing tender submissions and risk assessments/method statements.
- Excellent organisational skills, self‑motivation, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and leadership skills.
- Strong written, verbal, and client‑facing communication skills.
- Diploma/degree in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering is advantageous but not essential.
