There are 2 roles – MOT Data Analyst and Data Analyst for Commercial Reporting. The successful candidates will be offered a choice of either role based on merit order. Both roles are matrix managed so will report to the Head of Data Analysis but day to day operation will be spent with the relevant teams. The MOT role will be responsible for analysing and producing reports for our MOT service. This will include creating data model using the MOT data and then building operational reports as required. The Commercial role will be working with contractual and financial data to support our digital services. This will include creating data model using the Commercial data and then building operational reports as required. Job description Your responsibilities will include, but aren’t limited to: * Lead and support DVSA by using data analysis to create change and participate in the development of data models and reports to find patterns in data and transform them into organisational insight. * Engage with Service and Product owners to understand and define their data analysis requirements and make recommendations to address complex problems to inform strategic and operational decision making. * Explore existing and new data using a range of analytical tools and techniques, whilst ensuring you use data ethically and appropriately. * Lead and participate in data analysis initiatives and support foundation work to implement plans for the delivery of new data services and solutions for the business. Person specification Essential qualifications: Hold a degree or equivalent qualification in a subject containing formal mathematical training (e.g. Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Sciences, Business Studies etc). Required Experience: To be successful in this role you will need to have the following experience: * Have a broad knowledge of data analysis techniques, use cases and potential impact, as well as the tools and technologies * Have extensive experience in scoping, designing and delivering data analytical outputs and products * Work collaboratively with a range of experts in support of organisational objectives Additional information Working hours, office attendance and travel requirements Full time roles consist of 37 hours per week. Whilst we welcome applications from those looking to work with us on a part time basis, there is a business requirement for the successful candidate to be able to work at least 30 hours per week. Occasional travel to other offices will be required, which may involve overnight stays. This role is suitable for hybrid working, which is a non-contractual arrangement where a combination of workplace and home-based working can be accommodated subject to business requirements.
