Data Consultant - Financial Crime & Analytics

Location: London (Shoreditch – Hybrid)

Salary: £36,000 – £50,000 + Benefits

Anson McCade is partnering with a high-growth specialist consultancy focused on financial crime, fraud, AML, and data analytics.

What You’ll Be Doing

This role is centred around hands-on data work applied to real financial crime problems. From day one, you’ll be working on live projects, using data to uncover and prevent illicit activity.

• Data Engineering & Analysis – Work with large, complex financial datasets; extract, transform, and analyse data to identify suspicious behaviour and risk patterns
• Machine Learning & AI – Build and support models designed to detect fraud, money laundering, and other financial crime risks
• Financial Crime Use Cases – Apply your work across areas such as transaction monitoring, fraud detection, and sanctions screening
• Data Wrangling & Tooling – Use tools such as Python, SQL, and other data/analytics platforms (not limited to these) to process and interrogate data at scale
• Turning Insight into Action – Work alongside risk and compliance teams to ensure data insights translate into real-world outcomes

The Role

As a Consultant / Senior Consultant you will:

• Deliver projects across fraud, AML, sanctions, and financial crime analytics
• Support or lead the development of data models and analytical solutions
• Contribute to live client engagements from an early stage, gaining hands-on delivery experience

At Senior level, you will also:

• Own workstreams and key deliverables
• Engage directly with stakeholders and support client relationships
• Mentor and support more junior team members

Your Profile

We are open to candidates across levels, but you should have:

• Experience or strong interest in data, analytics, or financial crime
• Experience with data tools such as Python, SQL, or similar technologies
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Note: Python and SQL are commonly used, but candidates with experience in other relevant tools, platforms, or programming languages are also encouraged to apply.

For Senior level:

• Experience delivering projects in financial crime, risk, or data analytics
• Confidence working with clients and taking ownership of delivery
