You will join an expanding consultancy focused on supporting innovation in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Their research division specializes in solving complex biological problems through advanced statistical modeling and ML/AI. They are seeking an additional team member to work on statistical method development and application to real-world drug discovery and development problems.

Your new role

As a Senior Data Scientist, your responsibilities will include:

• Designing and implementing novel statistical approaches for large-scale genomic datasets
• Developing models to quantify genetic contributions to disease and traits
• Refining existing analytical frameworks for better accuracy and interpretability
• Ensuring scientific rigor and reproducibility
• Translating complex statistical results into insights for diverse audiences
• Collaborating with engineering teams to embed methods into scalable data pipelines
• Contributing to peer-reviewed publications
• Staying updated with emerging techniques in statistical genetics and bioinformatics

This role is suitable for a recent PhD graduate or a junior post-doc with strong statistical development skills, with industry experience preferred but not required. The position can be fully remote or based from one of the company's UK offices.

What you'll need to succeed

• PhD (or Master's with significant experience) in relevant fields such as statistics, mathematics, physics, data science, computing, or statistical genetics
• Proven ability to develop and validate statistical models or workflows
• Strong programming skills in R or Python, including bioinformatics tools
• Experience with biobank-scale datasets and genomic databases
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and scalable computing
• A publication record demonstrating methodological contributions
• Excellent communication skills for explaining statistical concepts
