Job Title - Senior Design Engineer
Duration - 2 Month Contract (potential for extension)
Working Model - Onsite in Bridgend (Wales)
Hourly Rate - £35p/hour - £45p/hour (dependant on experience)
Senior Design Engineer Overview
My client is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with a building services background to join their design team. This role is suited to someone capable of working independently within a contracting environment, delivering detailed mechanical building services designs across commercial and industrial projects.
The position involves design development through to installation, commissioning, and handover, with a strong emphasis on HVAC, public health systems, and building services coordination. The successful candidate will also be responsible for Part L compliance and Stage 4 design verification in line with UK building regulations.
The Senior Design Engineer role will involve:
Produce and review mechanical designs for commercial and industrial projects
Work independently and manage own workload
Prepare technical reports and specifications
Carry out Part L energy assessments and ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations
Review and verify Stage 4 designs before construction
Coordinate with other disciplines and ensure builder’s work requirements are met
Support project delivery through to installation and commissioning
The Senior Design Engineer will need to have the following attributes:
Proven experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer within Building Services
Able to work independently with minimal supervision
Solid understanding of HVAC and mechanical building systems
Knowledge of Part L assessments and energy compliance
Knowledge of Stage 4 design and construction coordination
Good communication and coordination skills
Revit experience is beneficial but not essential
