Senior Design Engineer\n\nHayes, Middlesex (Hayes Depot)\n £40,000 – £55,000 (DOE)\n Design Department\n\nAre you an experienced Design Engineer looking to take the next step in a fast-paced, high-quality manufacturing environment? We are seeking a Senior Design Engineer to join our team in Hayes, where you’ll play a key role in delivering innovative, high-standard design solutions across a range of projects.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior Design Engineer, you will be responsible for producing accurate 2D and 3D technical designs, ensuring all work is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You’ll take ownership of design projects from concept through to completion, while supporting continuous improvement across the design function.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign & Technical Delivery\n\nProduce detailed 2D and 3D designs aligned with project briefs\nCreate manufacturing, assembly, installation, and client approval drawings\nManage CAD files, drawing registers, and project documentation\nDevelop and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)\nEnsure all designs comply with SOPs and document control procedures\nProactively resolve design challenges across cost, quality, and time constraints\n\nProject & Performance Management\n\nDeliver design work within agreed timeframes and budgets\nMonitor progress and report risks or delays to management\nEnsure designs are practical for manufacture, transport, and installation\n\nCollaboration & Leadership\n\nWork closely with production and internal departments\nSupport and mentor Junior CAD Engineers\nBuild strong working relationships across teams\n\nQuality & Continuous Improvement\n\nMaintain high standards of accuracy and attention to detail\nSupport improvements in design processes and quality systems\nEnsure all work meets internal and client expectations\n\nHealth, Safety & Compliance\n\nApply CDM 2015 regulations within all designs\nPromote and adhere to H&S, quality, and environmental policies\n\nWhat We’re Looking For\n\nEssential\n\nDegree, HNC, or equivalent in Engineering\n8+ years’ experience in mechanical design, specifically within fabrication\nStrong experience in 2D & 3D CAD software such as:\n\nInventor 3D\nAutoCAD 2D\nSolidWorks\nTekla or Advance Steel\n\nProven experience in a similar design engineering role\nBackground in architectural metalwork or fabrication design\nStrong understanding of manufacturing processes\nExcellent time management and ability to meet tight deadlines\n\nDesirable\n\nCSCS Card\nCDM training\nIf you’re a detail-oriented, driven Design Engineer with strong fabrication experience ready to make an impact, we’d love to hear from you
