Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nLocation: Multiple UK Locations\nEmployment Type: Full-Time, Permanent\n\nRole Overview\n\nAdvance TRS is working in partnership with a well-established and rapidly growing UK multi-utility infrastructure provider to recruit a Senior Electrical Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical design professional to play a key role in delivering LV and HV network designs across a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and industrial developments.\n\nReporting to a Design Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for producing compliant, high-quality electrical network designs while providing technical leadership, stakeholder support, and mentoring within a collaborative design environment.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nDesign bespoke LV and HV (11kV/33kV) electrical network and earthing solutions.\nProduce detailed electrical design deliverables, including:\nSingle line diagrams\nGeneral arrangements\nCircuit and wiring diagrams\nBlock cable diagrams and schedules\nCable sizing and specification calculations\nObtain DNO/IDNO design approvals for electrical network and earthing designs.\nEnsure all designs comply with current:\nDNO/IDNO policies\nENA and G81 documentation\nCDM Regulations\nRelevant UK standards, legislation, and codes of practice\nLiaise with DNOs, IDNOs, utility providers, equipment manufacturers, and internal stakeholders.\nManage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritising workloads to meet programme and budget requirements.\nProvide specialist electrical and substation engineering advice to project teams.\nSupport tendering activities through outline designs and technical input.\nUndertake internal peer reviews of tender and contract designs.\nContribute to the development and maintenance of standardised electrical design procedures.\nMentor and support junior and trainee engineers.\nCoordinate with gas and water design teams to deliver integrated multi-utility solutions. \n\nCandidate Requirements\n\nDegree, HND, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.\nIncorporated Engineer (IEng) status with the IET, or working towards within 6 months.\nMinimum 5 years' experience designing LV and HV electrical utility networks.\nStrong knowledge of the UK power distribution industry and DNO/IDNO requirements.\nWorking knowledge of:\nG81 documentation\nNERS requirements\nSubstation, cable, and plant specifications\nDNO protection philosophies (desirable)\nProficiency in WinDEBUT / VisNet and AutoCAD.\nGood understanding of CDM Regulations, NRSWA, and relevant ISO standards.\nExcellent communication and stakeholder management skills.\nHigh attention to detail with the ability to manage competing priorities.\nSelf-motivated team player capable of working independently and resolving design issues.
