Are you an experienced Electrical Design Engineer ready to take the lead on technically challenging and high‑impact projects? We’re looking for a Senior Design Engineer to join our clients growing engineering function, driving the design and delivery of control panels, MCCs and automation systems for a wide range of industrial applications. This role is based in the Hampshire area. In this key role, you’ll take ownership of complex design work, provide technical leadership, and play a pivotal part in ensuring our solutions are safe, compliant, innovative, and cost‑effective. Experience
Leading the design and development of electrical control panels, MCCs and automation systems from concept to manufacture. Producing and reviewing detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and layouts. Verifying design integrity through testing and design verification processes. Ensuring all designs meet client specifications, functional requirements and BS EN 61439‑2:2021. Selecting and specifying electrical components with consideration of performance, compliance and value. Supporting manufacturing teams, resolving design queries, and providing technical input during FAT, SAT and commissioning. Mentoring junior engineers and contributing to continuous process and design improvement. Staying current with new standards, technologies and industry trends.
Qualifications
Degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent experience). Strong practical knowledge of LV control panel and MCC design. Solid understanding of BS EN 61439‑2:2021. Experience supporting panel build, testing and commissioning activities. Ability to interpret specifications and deliver custom, compliant solutions. Experience leading or mentoring within a design environment. Hands‑on experience with automation systems or intelligent MCCs.
Desirable
Advanced CAD capability (EPLAN, AutoCAD Electrical, Promis.E). Experience with PLC‑based control and industrial communication systems. Manufacturer or industry training in MCC or automation technologies. Further qualifications in electrical power, automation or systems engineering. Project or engineering management certifications (e.g., PRINCE2 Foundation, APMP).
