To manage AECOM and external design teams in the design/delivery of infrastructure projects across the UK, help grow the Design Management team by demonstrating value and mentoring junior design managers, and forge relationships with engineers and designers across AECOM and externally to build trust and develop opportunities for new business. Responsibilities
Manage AECOM and external design teams in the design/delivery of infrastructure projects across the UK. Grow the Design Management team by demonstrating value and mentoring junior design managers. Forge relationships with engineers/designers across AECOM and externally to build trust and develop opportunities for new business. Work closely with team leadership to manage the Design Management team. Support leadership in business development, team performance reviews and other duties as required. Complement the team leader’s responsibilities and substitute as needed. Manage AECOM financial process and invoicing. Contribute to DM business planning and review targets to monitor progress. Lead Design Management projects across the UK and internationally (where required). Assist in developing team members through mentoring, training and reviews. Review work outputs from Design Management team prior to issuance to ensure quality and compliance with contractual obligations.
Key Design Management Responsibilities
Agree team structure/governance, roles/responsibilities and scope; manage sub‑consultants. Establish and implement Design Management procedures, including communication/information exchange, design coordination, change, quality, risk & value management, client and statutory approvals. Establish and monitor design schedule and progress, including EVM. Agree deliverables and monitor outputs to ensure quality and contractual standards. Organise project meetings and define decision‑making process.
Qualifications
Client‑facing role requiring demonstrable skills in maintaining and developing client relationships. Positive attitude, highest standards, integrity and professionalism at all times. Compliance with firm’s standards, procedures and processes. Built‑environment design consultant (engineer or architect) with 7+ years experience in management of multi‑disciplinary design teams.
