Business Unit: 5118 - HS2 Old Oak Common BBVS JV Location: London Job Role Taylor Woodrow, as part of the BBVS Joint Venture delivering the HS2 Old Oak Common Station, is seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design delivery across architectural, structural, civil and fit‑out packages. This role covers a wide scope including ancillary buildings, urban realm, supporting civil infrastructure and integrated fit‑out. You will ensure design quality, compliance and timely delivery aligned with construction needs. A minimum of three days per week on-site is expected. Lead and coordinate design activities across architectural, civil, structural, MEPH and fit‑out disciplines. Oversee design delivery for ancillary buildings, urban realm areas and supporting civil infrastructure. Ensure all designs meet project specifications, regulations, CDM obligations and client requirements. Manage the design programme and ensure timely delivery of all design outputs. Review drawings, technical documents and reports for accuracy and completeness. Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities and JV partners to secure design approvals. Lead design meetings, workshops and progress reviews. Identify design risks early and implement mitigation strategies. Support construction teams with technical queries, RFIs and shop drawing reviews. Ensure completion of accurate as‑built documentation and support value‑engineering activities.
Person Specification
Proven experience in Design Management during the construction phase of buildings or civils projects. Strong background in architectural, civil, structural or multidisciplinary design coordination. Experience working on large‑scale infrastructure or complex major projects. Understanding of CDM obligations and NEC3 contract environments. Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate across teams. Ability to lead and support a multidisciplinary design team. Highly organised, proactive and able to manage competing priorities. Comfortable operating in a Joint Venture environment with multiple stakeholders. Formal qualification in engineering, architecture, structures or construction (desirable). Based within a commutable distance to Old Oak Common, able to work on‑site three days per week.
