Senior DevOps Engineer
Salary: up to £65,000
Based: Leeds - hybrid
About the Role
My client is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join their team within a leading banking organization. This role will play a key part in designing, implementing, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on Microsoft Azure, supporting mission-critical banking platforms.
You will work closely with development, security, and operations teams to enable continuous delivery while ensuring compliance with enterprise and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines on Microsoft Azure
Automate infrastructure provisioning using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (ARM, Bicep, Terraform)
Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar
Ensure high availability, performance, monitoring, and disaster recovery for production systems
Collaborate with development teams to support containerized and microservices-based applications
Enforce security best practices, management, and compliance requirements in a banking environment
Troubleshoot complex infrastructure and deployment issues
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to DevOps best practices across the organization
Required Skills & Experience
7+ years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure (IaaS, PaaS, networking, security)
Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and Git-based version control
Solid understanding of containers and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes / AKS)
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM templates, Bicep)
Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash, or Python)
Experience working in enterprise or regulated environments (banking, financial services, insurance)
Knowledge of monitoring, logging, and alerting tools
Nice to Have
Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-400)
Experience with security tooling, DevSecOps practices, and compliance frameworks
Exposure to microservices architecture and API management
Experience with Agile / DevOps operating models
