Senior Diagnostic Radiological Physicist

We are advertising for a 12 month fixed term Band 8A Senior Diagnostic Radiological Physicist post in Diagnostic Radiology and Radiation safety to cover maternity leave. We are looking for a self‑motivated and enthusiastic physicist with a few years of experience and a good background in Quality Assurance, optimisation and radiation protection/safety to work within the Radiological Sciences Unit (RSU) at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. The successful candidate will join a friendly and dynamic team delivering scientific and technical support and radiation safety services to the Trust and a number of external organisations. Key Responsibilities
Act as the Senior Radiological Physicist for Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust and service level agreement customers. Provide medical physics expert support in Diagnostic Radiology, including procurement, acceptance, commissioning, optimisation and routine quality assurance of x‑ray diagnostic equipment. Develop and optimise examination protocols and ensure compliance with Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations legislation. Plan, organise and implement integrated computer information systems for handling, analysing and interpreting quality assurance data. Teach and train staff and update local policies to ensure patient and staff safety regarding the use of x‑rays. Contribute to the development and optimisation of scientific and technical expertise for the Trust and SLA customers. Support the Scientist Training Programme and may provide MSc‑level lecturing.
Qualifications & Experience
Registered HCPC clinical scientist. Experience (few years) in quality assurance, optimisation and radiation protection/safety. Background in diagnostic radiology technology and clinical physics. Ability to communicate effectively with clinicians, staff and external organisations. Experience or interest in teaching and training.
