Our client is a forward-thinking and fast-growing environmental consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions across the UK. With an expanding portfolio of major developments, they are now looking for a Senior Ecologist to strengthen their Sheffield-based team.\n\nThis is a brilliant opportunity to step into a senior role where you'll shape projects from the earliest design stages through to delivery, influence sustainable outcomes, and mentor the next of ecologists.\n\nThe Role\n\nYou will be trusted to lead complex projects, provide expert technical input and ensure ecological best practice is embedded across everything our client delivers.

This is a hands-on role combining leadership, fieldwork and high-level reporting.\n\nYour responsibilities will include:\n\nLeading Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, habitat surveys and protected species surveys\n\nDesigning and delivering mitigation and enhancement strategies\n\nProducing, reviewing and signing off high-quality technical reports, including Ecological Impact Assessments\n\nActing as a key point of contact for clients, planners and multidisciplinary project teams\n\nSupporting and mentoring junior ecologists to help them grow\n\nAbout You\n\nYou will be an experienced ecological consultant who enjoys responsibility, problem-solving and helping projects achieve positive outcomes for nature.\n\nYou will ideally have:\n\nA degree in Ecology or a related discipline\n\nSeveral years' experience in ecological consultancy\n\nStrong working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and planning policy\n\nExperience managing projects and leading ecological inputs\n\nProtected species licences (bats, GCN, etc.)\n\nA full UK driving licence\n\nPlease call James Hardie at Penguin Recruitment for more info
