Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nABOUT THE COMPANY\n\nA well-established engineering business specialising in the design and delivery of advanced test and measurement systems for highly regulated industries.\n\nThe company has built a strong reputation for delivering bespoke engineering solutions, supported by a stable and experienced team and long-term customer relationships.\n\nABOUT THE ROLE\n\nThis Senior Electrical Design Engineer position is a hands-on engineering role focused on the design and delivery of bespoke test systems and instrumentation solutions.\n\nWorking across the full project lifecycle, the Senior Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for interpreting customer requirements and developing integrated electrical and instrumentation systems for specialist applications.\n\nThis role is specifically suited to an engineer who has delivered full lifecycle turnkey projects involving bespoke machinery or test systems.\n\nKey Duties:\n\n * Interpret customer requirements and develop practical engineering solutions\n\n * Design electrical and instrumentation systems using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical\n\n * Produce electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and system documentation\n\n * Specify and integrate sensors, instrumentation, and data acquisition systems\n\n * Support system build, integration, testing, and commissioning\n\n * Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during development and delivery\n\n * Work directly with customers and internal stakeholders throughout projects\n\n * Contribute to project planning, cost estimation, and delivery\n\nBenefits:\n\n * Competitive salary (up to £75,000)\n\n * Annual bonus scheme\n\n * Stable, long-established engineering environment\n\n * Opportunity to work on bespoke, technically challenging systems\n\n * High level of autonomy and ownership\n\nLocation: Hertfordshire (Hemel Hempstead area)\nCommutable from: St Albans, Watford, Luton, Stevenage, Milton Keynes, North London\n\nCANDIDATES\n\nThe Senior Electrical Design Engineer role would suit an experienced engineer with a strong background in electrical design, instrumentation, and the delivery of bespoke engineering systems.\n\nYou will be comfortable working across disciplines, taking ownership of projects from concept through to commissioning, and engaging directly with customers.\n\nKey Requirements:\n\n * HNC/HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline\n\n * Strong experience using AutoCAD / AutoCAD Electrical for electrical design\n\n * Proven experience delivering full lifecycle turnkey engineering projects\n\n * Experience designing and integrating instrumentation and sensor systems\n\n * Experience working on bespoke machinery or test systems\n\n * Hands-on experience with integration, testing, and commissioning\n\n * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills\n\n * Ability to work directly with clients and stakeholders\n\nDesirable:\n\n * Background in aerospace, defence, or similar regulated industries\n\n * Experience with data acquisition or test environments\n\n * Exposure to control systems (PLC / SCADA)\n\n * Commercial awareness or involvement in project costing\n\nSuitable Backgrounds / Job Titles May Include:\n\n * Electrical Design Engineer\n\n * Senior Electrical Engineer\n\n * Controls & Instrumentation Engineer\n\n * EC&I Engineer\n\n * Systems Engineer (Electrical bias)\n\nDiagonal J is acting as a recruitment agency in relation to this vacancy.
