Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nLocation: Wolverhampton (Hybrid Working)\n\nSalary: Up to £60,000 + Package\n\nHours: 37 per week (flexible bands and core hours)\n\nAbout the Senior Electrical Design Engineer Role\n\nWe are seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Wolverhampton.\n\nYou will lead electrical design work packages and manage a team of engineers delivering complex engineering solutions from concept through to handover. \n\nProjects typically involve large-scale, high-integrity machinery and process systems for highly regulated environments, covering full lifecycle design, integration, and commissioning.\n\nThese include advanced control systems, automation solutions, and safety-critical instrumentation for major Energy, Research & Defence Infrastructure and process facilities.\n\nKey Responsibilities of Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nInterpret design input requirements into fit-for-purpose solutions\nDeliver projects within allocated budgets and timescales\nDay-to-day management of the electrical design team\nSupervise, verify, and produce design deliverables including schematics, GA drawings, cable schedules, and calculations\nProduce control panel designs including General Arrangements, detailed drawings, schematic diagrams, interlock diagrams for PLC & HMI hardware, motor starters & drives, safety circuits, instrumentation, and power distribution\nCoordinate with other engineering disciplines and liaise with manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams\nEnsure compliance with UK H&S legislation and relevant standards\nParticipate in HAZOP and design reviews\nManage design change control and contract variations\nProduce key technical documentation including FDS, software documentation, technical files, O&M manuals, spares lists, and test documentation \n\nWhat We're Looking For in a Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nHNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)\nExtensive electrical design engineering experience\nPrior experience managing and leading design teams\nProficient in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office\nKnowledge of British/European standards and IEC 61508 (advantageous)\nAbility to gain UK Security Clearance\nCommitment to professional development - Chartership support provided\n\nSalary & Benefits for Senior Electrical Design Engineer\n\nUp to £69k starting salary\nHybrid & flexible working\nPension: 5% employer / 5% employee + Death in Service (3× salary)\n25 days annual leave + bank holidays + option to buy/sell up to 5 additional days\nAccrue up to 5 extra days for authorised extra hours\nMembership fees paid\n\nCommutable From\n\nEasily accessible from Wolverhampton, Birmingham, Telford, Dudley, Walsall, Cannock, Stafford, and surrounding areas.\n\nWhy Join Us?\n\nWe are committed to continued investment in engineering excellence and the professional development of our people.
