Senior Electrical Design Technician
Location: Kettering (with 1 day WFH after probation)
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Hours: 37.5 per week

Theyre now looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Technician to join their expanding design team in Kettering.

The Opportunity
This is more than just a design role. Youll be at the forefront of delivering large-scale electrical design schemes, taking ownership from concept through to approval, while acting as a technical lead within the team.

Youll also play a key role in mentoring junior colleagues, reviewing designs, and ensuring the highest standards are maintained across all projects.

Key Responsibilities

Producing high-quality electrical design drawings, reports, and technical documentation
Leading and managing electrical design projects from concept through to completion
Reviewing and checking LV and HV designs completed by other team members
Managing Points of Connection (POCs) and submitting designs to DNOs and IDNOs
Liaising with distribution network operators and third-party network owners
Ensuring all work complies with G81 standards, NERS procedures, and safety regulations
Supporting and mentoring junior members of the team
Leading design progress meetings and contributing technical insight across the business
Managing workload allocation and prioritisation within the design function

What Were Looking For

Proven experience within the electrical or utilities sector
Strong background in electrical design, ideally within infrastructure projects
Experience working with DNOs and IDNOs
Knowledge of G81 standards and relevant industry regulations
Proficiency in CAD software
Experience with electrical studies (e.g. WinDebut or VisNet)
Understanding of earthing studies
Strong communication, organisation, and leadership skills
Relevant electrical qualifications
