Senior Cable Systems Design EngineerLocation: Remote (with occasional travel to Thames Valley)Salary: up to £70,000 + benefitsAre you experienced in designing cable systems for complex grid connection and BESS projects?Turner Lovell is recruiting a Senior Cable Systems Design Engineer for a leading UK energy infrastructure contractor delivering Battery Energy Storage (BESS) connection projects across the UK.This role sits within the engineering design team and focuses on the end-to-end design of 11kV -132kV cable systems, including routing from transformers to BESS units and around switch room environments. You will play a key role in ensuring cable designs are technically compliant, constructable, and aligned with client, industry, and regulatory standards.Key Responsibilities:Develop cable system designs in line with client requirements and grid standards.Design cable routing and layouts from transformers to BESS installations and within substations and switchrooms.Prepare and deliver project-based cable system design packs covering both design and construction phases.Undertake detailed engineering studies, including cable rating, induced voltage, cable pulling forces, and cable force calculations.Liaise with suppliers and clients to ensure up-to-date technical information, approvals, and type registrations are maintained.Work collaboratively with internal teams, external consultants, and contractors where required.Required Qualifications and Experience:Strong understanding of cable systems and cable design.Proven experience delivering 11kV - 132kV cable system designs, ideally for BESS, substation, or grid connection projects.Experience using cable modelling software such as CYMCAP, Cableizer, ELEK or similar.Competent in AutoCAD and comfortable working with Microsoft Office and engineering calculation tools.Experience working with distribution or transmission network operators is highly desirable.This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing renewables-focused engineering team with a strong pipeline of BESS and grid connection projects, offering long-term progression.For more information or to apply, please contact Anusha Gopalan at or 020 7448 1100.JBRP1_UKTJ
