Senior Energy & Sustainability Engineer / Senior Building Physics Engineer\nLocation: Liverpool\n Salary: £45,000 to £60,000 + Bonus, Travel Allowance, Benefits\n Job Ref: 38779\n\nIf you are looking to take the next step in your career within an exciting, fast-growing, and forward-thinking Building Services & Sustainability Consultancy, this Senior Building Physics / Energy & Sustainability Engineer role will be of strong interest.\n\nThis opportunity is with a business that has experienced exceptional growth since its launch in 2022. Initially recognised for delivering innovative, high-value solutions within the Residential sector, the consultancy has rapidly expanded and now works across a broad mix of sectors, typically on projects ranging from £5M to £20M MEP value (£100M+ total build value).\n\nProjects are delivered across Liverpool, Manchester, Leeds, Birmingham, London, and other major UK cities, with a strong emphasis on performance-led, low-carbon design.\n\nThe Role\n\nAs a Senior Building Physics / Energy & Sustainability Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of energy, sustainability, and building performance strategies across a varied portfolio of projects. This is a hands-on technical role, ideal for an experienced engineer who enjoys detailed analysis, problem-solving, and client interaction.\n\nYou will work closely with MEP engineers, architects, and clients to ensure buildings are compliant, efficient, and future-ready, contributing heavily at RIBA Stages 4-5, with a strong focus on technical delivery through detailed design and into construction.\n\nThe consultancy delivers projects fully digitally using Revit and BIM workflows, so experience working within coordinated digital environments is highly advantageous.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nDeliver building physics, energy, and sustainability assessments across multiple projects\nUndertake and review thermal modelling, energy modelling, and Part L compliance (SBEM / SAP / dynamic simulation)\nLead and contribute to overheating analysis (TM52 / TM59), daylighting, and thermal comfort studies\nSupport the development of low-carbon and net zero strategies, including fabric-first and passive design approaches\nWork closely with MEP design teams to influence building performance outcomes\nProvide technical input across RIBA Stages 2-5, ensuring designs translate effectively into construction\nLiaise directly with clients, design teams, and external stakeholders to deliver the right solutions\nSupport junior engineers through technical guidance and mentoring\nContribute to sustainability assessments such as BREEAM, NABERS, or similar (where applicable)\nAssist with bid support, proposals, and early-stage energy strategy developmentContractor -side or site experience is beneficial but not essential, what matters is your ability to deliver robust, buildable, and performance-driven solutions.\n\nThe business is built on a culture-first philosophy, placing genuine emphasis on staff wellbeing, professional development, and shared success.
