Job Title: Senior Engineer – Product Safety

What you’ll be doing:

\n

\n \n Undertaking HAZID/HAZAN as required throughout the safety lifecycle

\n

\n

\n Contributing to the design of submarines in concept stages, and design modifications of mature and operational submarines to ensure safety from internal hazards

\n

\n

\n Acting as a subject matter expert for internal hazard safety at various design review meetings and as a design peer reviewer

\n

\n

\n Developing safety case reports for multiple safety cases

\n

\n

\n Undertaking risk assessments and ALARP assessments

\n

\n

\n Producing and peer reviewing technical papers relating to safety analysis

\n

\n

\n Liaising with a network of engineering stakeholders on safety maters

\n

\n

\n Developing, producing, and maintaining internal hazard safety processes and risk management strategies

\n

\n

\n

\n

Your skills and experiences:

\n

Essential:

\n

\n \n Safety Engineering knowledge or experience gained from any of the following areas: systems safety, process safety, technical safety, product safety, nuclear safety or safety case

\n

\n

\n Degree qualified in a relevant STEM discipline

\n

\n

\n

Desirable:

\n

\n \n Experience in naval maritime safety case development or maintenance

\n

\n

\n Experience with a range of quantitative and qualitative risk assessment techniques

\n

\n

\n Safety Engineering experience in a high hazard industry

\n

\n

\n

\n

This is an exciting time to be joining the BAE Systems Safety & Environmental Team. With the recent government contract won to help deliver the next of Submarine Fleet, BAE are in a very strong position to innovate new technologies within the Defence/Marine sector. The team works across multiple programmes across the life cycle including the Dreadnought Programme/SSNA programme/Astute Programme and in-service vessels.
