OverviewSenior Engineer/Principal Engineer - Civil at WSP. The role focuses on the delivery of civil and bridge engineering projects, applying knowledge to deliver the right quality on time and within budget, and mentoring junior team members.ResponsibilitiesBridge design, both in the UK and overseasBridge managementBridge strengthening and repair, inspections and assessmentsGeneral civil and structural engineering support to other teamsFeasibility studies and options appraisalsPreparation of documents, reports and health and safety risk assessments, scheme designs and drawings, scheme feasibility studies and outline cost estimatesPreparation of fee estimatesSupervision of junior members of the team and CAD techniciansWhat we look forChartered Civil or Structural EngineerExperience in bridge design, maintenance and assessment, including work on construction sites and in design officesExperience in project management of bridge projectsDesign, maintenance and supervision of structures with a track record of innovation in design and management of bridges and civil structures infrastructureKnowledge of the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) and Manual of Contract Documents for Highway Works (MCDHW) for structural schemesUnderstanding and experience of Eurocodes and their application to bridge designExperience in design or assessment of steel, reinforced and prestressed concrete bridge structuresExperience with grillage, space frame and finite element analysis software (e.g., LUSAS, Superstress, SAM)Good communication, client handling and interpersonal skills; willingness to adapt to new challenges and contribute to the bridges teamYour teamWe work across a variety of projects in the rail and highways sectors for clients including HS2, Network Rail, National Highways, Local Authorities, D&B Contractors and private sector clients.
