Location: Alness, Ross-Shire, Scotland, UKRole OverviewWe are seeking an experienced SHES (Environmental & Sustainability) Advisor to support environmental and sustainability performance across major projects for a top global Energy business. This role ensures compliance with regulations, manages environmental documentation, conducts inspections and audits, and drives sustainability initiatives including carbon management. You will provide technical advice, deliver training, monitor environmental impacts (water, noise, dust), and support project teams throughout delivery.Key ResponsibilitiesCompliance AssessmentInput into Fit to Start process prior to mobilisationContribute to project 6-week SMS lookaheadCarry out environmental inspections and auditsProduce inspection lookahead programmesEnvironmental Incident ManagementReport and investigate environmental incidents (Level 1)Support evidence gathering for investigationsDocumentation & PlanningDevelop and update Construction Environmental Management PlanMaintain Project Aspects & Impacts RegisterPrepare plans for specific risks (e.g., Water Management Plan)Implement and update Site Waste Management Plan on SMARTWasteAssist with Emergency Response Plan and RAMS reviewsPermits & ConsentsMaintain Consents & Authorisation RegisterObtain discharge, abstraction, flood risk permitsSecure waste exemptions and collate evidenceDraft and submit Section 61 consentsTraining & UpskillingDeliver toolbox talks and environmental trainingProvide spill response training and drillsSupport project induction contentMonitoring & SustainabilityConduct water quality, noise, and dust monitoringMaintain calibration recordsProduce and update Carbon Management PlanSupport carbon baseline and sustainability KPIsImplement innovations aligned with sustainability goalsSkills & Experience RequiredProven experience in environmental management within construction or infrastructure projectsKnowledge of environmental legislation and compliance requirementsStrong auditing and inspection skillsAbility to produce and maintain environmental documentation and plansExperience in carbon management and sustainability initiativesExcellent communication skills for delivering training and toolbox talksCompetence in obtaining permits and managing consentsRelevant qualifications such as SMSTS, CSCS, and environmental certifications are highly desirableExperience working on OHL (Overhead Line) and Grid Line projects is essentialWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity in our company.
