Senior Environmental and Compliance Advisor

Role Overview:
We have an outstanding opportunity for an experienced and driven Senior Environmental & Compliance Advisor to play a key role in our ongoing success. Key Responsibilities:
Decommissioning & Transition Planning
- Support environmental aspects of decommissioning planning and execution
- Advise on regulatory and environmental considerations related to carbon storage or renewable transition activities.
Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with UK and EU environmental legislation (e.g. OPRED, OSPAR, EU ETS, EU Methane Regulation)
- Experienced in Decommissioning Programmes (DPs) under the Petroleum Act 1998
- Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs)
- Comparative Assessments (CAs) for derogation cases
- Permit applications (e.g., PWA, PON15, PON1, WMLs)
- Liaise with regulatory authorities (e.g. BEIS/OPRED, SEPA, EA, DNV, MMO) and ensure timely submissions (e.g. PON1s, EEMS, EU ETS reports, Oil Pollution Emergency Plans)
- Maintain environmental permits and consents for offshore assets and drilling operations
- Conduct environmental audits and inspections both onshore and offshore
- Act as technical lead for environmental support across projects
- Manage end-to-end project delivery
- Develop and maintain client relationships, industry partnerships and relationships with subcontractors
- Deliver value adding environmental projects and enhancements to the business and to clients
- Investigate environmental incidents and support the business to implement controls for prevention
- Develop environmental policies and procedures in line with industry standards
- Ensure implementation of the project environmental management systems on project sites
- Develop and update environmental management plans, environmental risk assessments and site information packs
- Provide advice to operations and design teams on environmental management, compliance and project specific mitigation measures
- Monitor changes to standards and legislation and where applicable recommend changes to systems and processes
- Deliver environmental training to colleagues and clients
- Attend project meetings internally and with clients
- Produce internal and external reports as required
- Support and conduct audit and assurance activities including facilitating external audits by clients and certification bodies.
Qualifications & Key Skills:
Applicants should have a relevant degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related field. NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent HSE qualification is preferred with Chartered Environmentalist (CEnv) status.
Requirements:
- Experience:Expertise in developing and reviewing technical reports and regulatory submission.Strong knowledge of UKCS/North Sea environmental legislation and experience with offshore permitting and reporting systems (e.g.EMS, ETSWAP, BEIS portals).
- Skills:Strong project management skills.
- Communication:Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Analytical Skills:Analytical, detail-oriented, and organized.
- Teamwork:Ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, balancing project delivery and personal development goals.
