Contract Type: 12-month maternity cover Rate: £231.33/day PAYE Location: Ideally Birmingham, Nottingham, Telford, or Stafford (remote/hybrid working possible) About the Role Our client is seeking a Senior Environmental Consultant to lead environmental delivery for projects under the National Highways Scheme Delivery Framework (SDF) and other major infrastructure programmes in the Midlands. This is a strategic, hands-on role involving environmental leadership, project delivery, and mentoring junior staff across multiple disciplines. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and delivery of environmental assessments, strategies, and documentation across SDF projects.
Line manage and mentor junior consultants and coordinate with ecologists and technical teams.
Liaise with National Highways and statutory bodies (e.g. Environment Agency, Natural England, Local Authorities).
Prepare and review reports on DMRB topics such as biodiversity, landscape, cultural heritage, and climate.
Ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, CDM regulations, and client standards.
Guide project teams and designers on environmental risks, surveys, and best practices.
