We Build Recruitment are looking to recruit an experienced and team minded project fit out Estimator.
Our client is a fast-paced fit out contractor with 100+ operatives and turnover in the region of £25M. The business has grown significantly in recent years and as the business continue their growth trajectory it presents opportunities to join their team.
The business provides fit out and refurbishment projects, Fire Prevention & Electrical services to Facilities Management, Tier1 contractors, Government & Private Security sites and Social Housing.
Our client operates predominantly in the refit and refurbishment of existing buildings. Consideration to how project delivery can be affected by operating in live environments and the constraints of existing buildings is key. The estimator will need to be forward thinking, good at gathering information and analysing tender stage drawings to develop credible and competitive tenders.
The successful candidate’s experience will provide knowledge of fit out and refurbishment costing and experience of providing innovative solutions to drive profitable project outcomes. They will have excellent numerical skills and an analytical mindset, combined with a thorough approach that will enable seamless handovers of secured projects to the delivery team.
They must be passionate about what they do, diligent and thorough. They will have experience in directly managing people and the inter-personal skills to managing relationships with all stakeholder groups.
Working with supply partners is key to success, understanding fit out services that are not delivered in house and bringing best value and innovation from specialists will add value to their bid process.
Responsibilities
* Leading a team by example and setting the standards and tone of the department
* Understand the project/program and its requirements provide pre tender overview for sign off
* Determine key variables for cost and other estimates
* Gather first-hand information from site visits.
* Gather and analyse mechanical and electrical estimation packages from sub-contractors
* Accurately interpret labour requirements for bids
* Work with the rest of the commercial team to grow and develop the current subcontractor database
* Obtain and review offers and quotes by subcontractors for all tenders
* Perform risk analysis prior to submission of any large value tenders
* Create and submit estimate reports, tender submissions for approval
* Build relationships with key vendors
* Implement process and procedure where appropriate
* Challenge existing ways of working to continually improve the pre-construction and pricing methodology
Requirements and skills
* Proven experience as fit-out estimator or similar position minimum of 3 years’ experience
* Understanding of financial and project management principles
* In depth knowledge of methods and estimation formulas, practices.
* Strong numerical, verbal and IT ability with an analytical, data mindset
* Proficient in various relevant software systems available in the market place
* Strong communication and negotiation abilities
* Thoroughness and reliability
* Excellent organisational skills
* BEng/BSc/BA, construction management or similar relevant discipline preferred
