Key Responsibilities
Oversee the provision of accurate, understandable and timely financial information and the preparation of the Authority's financial accounts. Provide valuable financial advice, strategic insights and business solutions to Directors and other Budget Holders, especially in larger or complex areas focussed on business cases. Act as the Authority's critical friend, challenging internal processes and managing risk by ensuring compliance with legislation and financial regulations. Influence, develop and implement financial strategies, projects, initiatives and procedures to align financial goals with organisational objectives. Stakeholder engagement and effective leadership are essential. Establish and sustain key professional relationships, manage expectations of senior managers and stakeholders, and gain comprehensive insight into the organisation's operational drivers. Manage line staff and be accountable for supporting them in achieving set targets.
Qualifications
Background in public‑sector management accounting, with proven experience in budget preparation and monitoring. Fully qualified accountant with a strong understanding of public‑sector funding mechanisms and financial statements. Ability to meet demanding deadlines and demonstrate interest in pursuing new career opportunities. Prior line‑management experience required. Post subject to a Standard Disclosure and Barring Service Check.
