Womenswear Garment Technologist

North London (Office-Based)

A respected and expanding womenswear manufacturer in North London is seeking an experienced Garment Technologist to strengthen their technical team. Joining a collaborative group of three technologists, you will play a pivotal role in supporting both the company’s own labels and well-known high street retailers.


This position offers the chance to influence product quality at every stage, from development through to final production, within a fast-moving and commercially driven environment.


Overview of the Position


As Garment Technologist, you will take ownership of the technical development process, ensuring garments are fit for purpose, commercially viable, and delivered to the highest standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and international suppliers to maintain consistency, efficiency, and quality across all product ranges.


This role is based on-site in North London.


Core Responsibilities


  • Oversee the technical development of garments across multiple brands and retail accounts
  • Conduct and manage fit sessions, ensuring consistency and accuracy across a variety of product categories
  • Review and approve construction methods, ensuring designs are production-ready and aligned with cost targets
  • Partner with design, buying, and manufacturing teams to support a smooth workflow from concept to delivery
  • Manage the sealing process, ensuring all garments meet agreed specifications for construction, trims, fabrics, and labelling
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and enhance efficiency in bulk production
  • Ensure all products comply with relevant testing standards and global regulatory requirements
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with overseas factories to support timelines and minimise delays


Candidate Profile (Essential Skills & Experience)


  • Solid experience in a womenswear Garment Technologist role, ideally within a high street or volume-driven environment
  • Exposure to working with major retail accounts is advantageous
  • Strong capability in leading fit sessions and translating technical requirements across teams
  • Detail-focused with excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • In-depth understanding of garment construction, materials, trims, and production processes
  • Confident communicator with the ability to build effective working relationships internally and externally
  • Based within a commutable distance to North London with eligibility to work in the UK
