Senior Health & Safety Advisor\n\nUnity Recruitment are seeking an experienced Lead Health & Safety Advisor. \nYou will be instrumental in developing and implementing health and safety strategies and ensuring compliance with legislation and internal standards.\n\nWe're seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor who will be responsible for leading the health, safety, and environmental within the Rail, Power & Tunneling and Highways Sectors creating an ethos of collaboration and shared purpose between the Safe, Sustainability, Wellbeing Function, employees, Principal Contractors and Customers.\n\nThe position would require travel to sites, offices frequently with a maximum of 1 day working from home a week.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nHealth\n\nPromote, champion and implement across Rail, Power, Tunnelling, Fire, & Facilities projects and offices, the Wellbeing component of the Sustainable and Wellbeing Strategy.\n\nProvide support, guidance and advice on health and wellbeing matters, in-line with Management Systems and Customer/ Principal Contractor requirements.\n\nConduct focused project site health and wellbeing training as required.\nConduct health focused monitoring as required.\nProvide coaching and instruction to the Project employees and contractors with regards to health, and wellbeing.\nProvide support, guidance and advice to both office and site location on health matters, in-line with our H&S Policies and Procedures.\n\nSafety\n\nPromote, champion and implement across Rail, Power, Tunnelling, Fire, & Highways projects and offices, the Safe component of the Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing Strategy.\n\nProvide support, guidance and advice on safety matters, in-line with Integrated Management Systems (IMS) and Customer/ Principal Contractor requirements.\n\nProvide support, guidance and advice to both office and site locations on safety matters, in-line with our IMS Policies and Procedures.\n\nConduct weekly site safety inspections, ensuring any action plans implemented have been communicated with the Project Manager/s and subsequently implemented on the project site.\n\nConduct procedural and management system focused audits and reviews.\nReview project site Work Package Plans, Task Briefing Sheets, method statements and risk assessments, including associated plans in line with planned work activities.\nGenerate and conduct toolbox talks, generate and brief safety alerts and assist in customer/ principal contractor briefings when called upon.\nProvide coaching and instruction to health and safety advisors, Project employees and contractors with regards to safety.\nEnsure all incidents, observations and suggestions are correctly reported, where necessary investigated, and support provided to the project teams to close out and address issues raised.\nAsist in the , review and maintenance of project specific Health, Safety and Environmental Management Plans (HASEMP).\nAttend and provide health, safety and wellbeing input at Principal Contractor/ Customer Project safety meetings.\nAttend and provide health and safety input at Business Sector/ Project Meetings.\nCommunicate to the Head of Operational Health and Safety on matters of health, safety and environment including updates on Asite (Reporting System).\nMaintain project specific Health, Safety and Environmental performance indicators including customer indicators.\nEnvironment\n\nPromote, champion and implement across projects and offices, the Sustainable component of the Safe, Sustainable and Wellbeing Strategy.\nProvide support, guidance and advice to both office and site locations on environmental matters, in-line with our environmental Policies and Procedures.\nProvide support, guidance and advice on environmental matter, in-line with Management Systems and Principal Contractor requirements.\nConduct, as minimum, formal monthly process focused environmental audits on projects, ensuring improvement actions are issued, implemented, and embedded based on the ethos of continuous improvement.\nConduct focused project site environmental training as required.\nSupport processes, memberships and focused accreditations associated within the wider Business.\n\nWhat We're Looking For\n\nIn depth and demonstratable understanding of health and safety legislation.\nWorking and demonstratable understanding of electrical and mechanical standards.\nWorking and demonstratable understanding of industry/ customer standards linked to NWR, LUL, highways, UKPN.\nIn depth knowledge of CDM.\nDemonstrable experience of ISO 45001.\nNEBOSH Diploma/ NCRQ Diploma.\nCSCS/ ECS card - Safety Related.\nIOSH Certified Level Membership.\nFull UK driver's license.\nPrevious experience as a Health and Safety Manager in a Tier 1/ 2 Organisation.\nPrevious experience within Rail, Power, Highways and/or tunnelling sectors.\nAt least 3 demonstrable years' experience in a MEP construction based health and safety advisory role.\nExperience in carrying out accident and incident investigations.\nExperience , implementation and reviewing policies and procedures.\n\n\nIf this Health & Safety Advisor role is of interest to you, then please apply with your updated CV today.
