PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: Include salary range including currency icon e.g. £41,200 - £51,200 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

As a BBC Video Journalist, you will research, script, produce, and edit open-source (OSINT) investigations in video format for TV and digital platforms, often under tight deadlines. Collaborating with BBC Persian, BBC Verify, and wider verification teams, you'll deliver original, transparent, and evidence-based journalism. You'll respond swiftly to breaking news, present live output, and contribute to investigative programming. With strong editorial judgment, you'll help build audience trust and uphold the BBC's commitment to accuracy, clarity, and public accountability.

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

  • Collaborate with reporters and editorial teams to identify and develop compelling, multi-platform open-source story ideas for television, digital, and social media.
  • Research, script, produce, and edit high-quality video content under tight deadlines, ensuring clarity and creativity in storytelling.
  • Respond swiftly to breaking news with accurate, engaging video output that meets the BBC's editorial standards.
  • Work closely with the other verification and investigation teams to deliver original, evidence-based journalism.
  • Ensure all content upholds BBC editorial policy and can withstand public, legal, and political scrutiny, supporting the BBC's mission to serve all audiences across the UK and globally.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

  • Proven experience producing and editing high-quality video journalism, with a strong portfolio of digital video content.
  • Fluent in Arabic, with the ability to communicate complex stories clearly and accessibly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong editorial judgment and the ability to distil complex information into engaging, accurate video content under tight deadlines.
  • Proficient in video editing and production tools, including FCP X, and familiar with BBC workflows such as Jupiter,
  • Silver, CPS, Castaway, and iBroadcast.
  • Demonstrated experience in scripting, researching, commissioning graphics, and collaborating with correspondents on breaking and major global news stories.
