Senior Land & Consents Consultant – WSP WSP is a global professional services firm specialising in engineering, advisory services and land services. We support major infrastructure projects across highways, rail, energy and renewables. We are looking for an experienced consultant to join our Land team and work on projects in the Highlands, Moray and Aberdeenshire. Key Responsibilities
Negotiate access to and acquire complex land for high‑profile infrastructure projects across Scotland and the UK. Secure appropriate land rights for large‑scale development projects. Provide strategic land advice to clients. Draft and prepare consent documents. Utilise statutory powers such as CPO, TCPA, DCO to acquire land for highways, rail, water, gas and renewables. Negotiate Heads of Terms to secure land for projects. Liaise with landowners, agents, legal representatives, planning authorities, stakeholders, contractors and clients. Manage and settle compensation claims (e.g., CPO, land damage, voluntary). Collaborate with WSP’s multi‑disciplinary teams across sectors and locations.
What We Are Looking For
Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills. Strong communication, negotiation and autonomous working ability. Proven track record delivering land and property related services. Experience in land assembly, GDPR and data protection. Experience negotiating Heads of Terms, licences, wayleave, servitudes, exclusivity and option agreements. Experience managing voluntary and compulsory purchase compensation claims. Experience valuing land and/or buildings. Experience in high‑profile infrastructure sectors (road, rail, gas, electricity, water, utilities, renewables). Understanding of Scottish land ownership, planning system (NPF4, Planning etc.) and related legislation. Willingness to travel to sites and remote locations. Professional membership or chartership (e.g., RICS) desirable.
