About the Role

A leading listed insurance group is seeking an exceptional Senior Legal Counsel – Corporate to join its high‑performing legal function. This is a pivotal position within a dynamic, commercially driven organisation undergoing significant growth and strategic development. You will work closely with senior leadership, providing expert legal support across a wide range of corporate, commercial, and governance matters in a regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise the Board, Executive Committee, and senior stakeholders on corporate and strategic matters, including M&A, joint ventures, capital raisings, and other corporate transactions.
  • Lead on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and company secretarial matters for a UK‑listed entity.
  • Draft and negotiate complex commercial agreements, group contracts, and strategic partnership arrangements.
  • Support the delivery of corporate projects, restructurings, and transformation initiatives across the group.
  • Provide pragmatic, business‑focused advice to help the organisation navigate legal risk while enabling commercial ambition.
  • Manage external counsel and ensure cost‑effective, high‑quality legal support.

About You

  • Qualified solicitor with strong post‑qualification experience in corporate law (M&A, corporate governance, ECM, or general corporate advisory).
  • Background from a highly regarded, top-tier law firm is essential, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality corporate advisory or transactional work.
  • Experience working within financial services or a regulated environment is highly advantageous.
  • Excellent stakeholder‑management skills, with the ability to operate at executive and Board level.
  • Commercial, strategic, and solutions‑focused, with the confidence to influence decision‑making.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, listed business with a high level of visibility.
