Role focus:Aztec Labs is a UK headquartered software development company that (1) helped develop the Aztec Network, the first open-source, permissionless, decentralised and programmable privacy Layer 2 on Ethereum and (2) is currently focused on developing groundbreaking privacy apps on Aztec.We are looking for someone to serve as senior legal counsel. You will work closely with our General Counsel to identify and navigate potential legal and regulatory challenges, and develop internal processes across product, business development, finance, human resources, operations, and compliance.Please note this role will be based out of either London, UK or New York US.Your responsibilities will include:Draft and negotiate all types of varied legal contracts, including code audit review agreements, advisor engagement agreements, and other legal documentsAssist in developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry best practicesHelp build and improve internal contract templates and manage the company’s legal documentation databaseCollaborating with cross-functional partners on the legal implications across the company’s strategy, product development, financial matters, commercial partnerships, corporate matters, internal policies, compliance, IP, negotiations and moreManage the company’s internal corporate affairs and filings, including managing the board process and prepare resolutions / minutes and ensure all relevant filings are completed in a timely mannerManage the legal aspects of company’s share option / token pool strategyHorizon scanning of regulatory developmentsConduct legal research and analysis and attend policy meeting updates to stay abreast of regulatory developments and other legal / policy trendsAssist in drafting regulatory responses to consultations with a view to shaping policyWork closely with the operations team and manage relationships with external counsel, policy groups as well as the broader Aztec ecosystemQualifications:JD, LLB or equivalent and 5+ years of UK or US qualified legal experience in a global law firm or substantial in-house, preferably in crypto, technology, or fintechStrong knowledge of regulatory and legal frameworks relevant to web3 including US and global financial market regulations, securities laws, and IP and open-source development lawProven problem-solving, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced, remote and global teamDeep understanding of, or passion for, crypto and privacyWhat we offer:Highly competitive compensation package (base salary US$175k to US$250k, plus equity)Flexible and remote work environment25 days holiday + bank holidays annuallyAn opportunity to work at the cutting edge of blockchain and FinTech with a world class cryptography and engineering team #J-18808-Ljbffr
