Job Description
About us:
Encompass Digital Media is a global managed services company focused on supporting TV networks, broadcasters, sports leagues and digital platforms with the delivery of their linear/nonlinear video and audio content across television, radio and digital platforms. We design, implement and operate reliable video and audio solutions that capture, process and deliver clients’ content from any source, in any format, to any destination in the most efficient and reliable way possible.
Main Purpose:
To lead and manage day-to-day broadcast engineering personnel, activities and prioritises
across EMEA and APAC, ensuring technical excellence, operational reliability, and alignment
with global standards. This role acts as the bridge between strategic direction and hands-on
execution, supporting the Director of Broadcast Engineering by driving regional priorities and
enabling engineering teams to focus on delivery without unnecessary distractions.
This role is to provide management and technical leadership to a team of broadcast
engineers, ensuring alignment with business goals, team objectives, security standards, and
operational excellence. The role is part of a multi-regional engineering team that adopts a
‘follow-the-sun’ project and support model to ensure coverage for Encompass’ regional
operations.
Principal Responsibilities:
Leadership & Management
• Manage and mentor regional broadcast engineering teams across EMEA and APAC,
ensuring effective prioritisation of daily tasks and adaptability to local operational
needs.
• Oversee delivery of engineering activities from solution implementation through build,
testing, deployment, and handover to Operations and Support.
• Coordinate resource allocation, scheduling, and skills development within the regions,
fostering technical depth and operational readiness.
• Implement workload tracking and reporting mechanisms to maintain visibility and
alignment with global standards.
Design & Delivery
• Act as regional design authority for broadcast engineering projects, ensuring
adherence to global design principles while addressing local requirements.
• Supervise installation, commissioning, documentation, and handover of new systems
and technical changes within EMEA and APAC.
• Ensure projects meet timelines, budgets, and specifications, applying best practices
and company standards.
• Support consistency and scalability of design approaches across regional
deployments.
Collaboration & Knowledge Transfer
• Maintain strong collaboration with Operations, Support Engineering, PMO, and other
stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
• Facilitate knowledge sharing within regional teams and contribute to global process
alignment.
Standardisation & Compliance
• Enforce company standards, SOPs, and security requirements (including SOC 2)
within regional operations.
• Drive adoption of standardised tools and processes across EMEA and APAC.
• Identify and implement local process improvements aligned with global objectives.
Escalation & Support
• Serve as the primary escalation point for Tier-3 support within EMEA and APAC.
• Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for regional technical issues,
ensuring minimal service disruption.
Reporting & Governance
• Monitor regional team performance, workload, and skill development.
• Provide regular updates to the Director on regional progress, risks, and technical
recommendations.
• Assist in managing regional budgets and resource planning.
Additional Requirements
• Occasional travel across EMEA and APAC.
• Ability to manage critical incidents and customer-impacting issues within the regions.
• Strong judgement, communication, and adaptability under pressure.
Experience/Knowledge:
• Proven experience in broadcast engineering leadership within a multi-region
environment (EMEA and APAC preferred).
• Strong technical knowledge of broadcast systems, signal flow, transmission
standards, and IP-based workflows.
• Familiarity with global broadcast compliance standards and operational best
practices.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and operational teams across
diverse geographies.
• Experience in vendor management and contract negotiation for technical services
and equipment.
• Understanding of emerging trends in broadcast technology and ability to assess their
operational impact.
• Problem-solving under pressure, proven capability in escalation management, and
troubleshooting in high-pressure live environments.
• Self-motivated and adaptable, resourceful in maintaining and growing technical
competency, with a clear understanding of broadcast design principles and emerging
IT technologies.
Personal Skills:
• Detail-Oriented Leadership: Ability to stay close to technical detail while managing at
a senior level.
• Protective of Team Focus: Skilled at prioritising and filtering demands to safeguard
