The Opportunity

We are expanding our Energy Indirect Tax team in London, advising clients across all areas of indirect tax—including VAT, customs duties, excise duties and environmental taxes. You will help clients navigate the rapidly changing energy sector, from low‑carbon generation and battery storage to renewables and traditional energy businesses.

The Energy Indirect Tax team is diverse, supportive, and high‑performing, with a genuine interest in how energy generation and usage must adapt to meet net‑zero ambitions.

You will lead tax advisory projects, work closely with EY colleagues worldwide, and collaborate across tax and broader advisory service lines to deliver large‑scale projects, M&A and restructuring transactions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage client delivery teams, ensuring high‑quality advice and technical excellence.
• Supervise, coach and mentor team members, fostering their development.
• Manage the day‑to‑day delivery of projects, maintaining client relationships and service quality.
• Contribute to business development, identifying and converting opportunities to sell work.
• Collaborate with other teams within EY to deliver comprehensive client solutions.
• Support the growth and transformation of the Energy sector, advising clients on sustainable operations and low‑carbon initiatives.

Client Responsibilities

• Build and maintain strong client relationships and deliver exceptional service.
• Drive business development by identifying and converting opportunities.
• Own the quality of client service and manage risk for both clients and EY.
• Manage potential leads from other EY practice areas.
• Network internally and externally to support client value extraction.

Qualifications and Experience

• 8+ years’ experience in energy indirect tax, preferably in professional services.
• ACA/ACCA/CA, Tax Inspector with full technical training, or equivalent law/CTA qualification.
• Proven business development skill and strong client relationship building.
• Strong leadership and mentoring ability.
• Project management, budgeting, and scheduling proficiency.

Preferred Experience

• Project management skills with a proven track record of meeting deadlines and budgets.
