What you’ll do

As the Senior Manager - Platform & Innovation Engineering, at Vodafone, you will be responsible for leading the build, evolution and innovation of Vodafone global multi - cloud developer platforms, ensuring reliability, scalability, and forward-looking technical leadership.

You will play a key role in driving the adoption of cloud ensuring the Drive to adoption of AI/ML-enabled cloud services, next-gen platform capabilities and developer-centric automation to accelerate Vodafone’s transition to a TechComms leader.

Your expertise in cloud platforms will be instrumental in shaping our global cloud strategy and guiding Vodafone engineering teams in leveraging cloud services effectively with a focus on improving developer productivity.

Your leadership within Cloud Engineering will be pivotal to the successful delivery, operation and evolution of our TaaS (Telco-as-a-Service) platform. TaaS is a multi-cloud engineering developer platform providing cloud native application hosting, API gateway and developer self service capabilities enabling global software engineering teams and Vodafone API marketplace. A key aspect of the role is to connect markets and common digital capabilities to achieve the Gamma outcomes of re-use and leveraging scale – and an acceleration of DevOps maturity across all markets.

You will oversee global DevOps teams and Site Reliability Engineers (SREs); Site Reliability Engineering provided as a service across the TaaS user base under the Digital engineering domain. Your role will involve strategic planning, technical leadership, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. You will set direction and mission for the SRE team, build capacity through growing talent & skills.

Your role will bridge strategic cloud investments with hands-on engineering excellence, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous improvement.

Who you are

-Experience in leading multidiscipline technology teams across multiple locations.
-Strong all-round skills, willing to get involved in every stage of the software development lifecycle.
-Operational experience of large-scale cloud-hosted solutions with challenging expectations of security, availability and performance.
-An enthusiastic interest in modern software engineering practice, tooling, technology and techniques.
-Deep expertise in budget planning and financial management in product-based organizations.
-Business Agility operating models and optimization of quality, speed and reliability of software
-Business partnering: Demonstrates robust understanding of business needs, identifies and prioritises stakeholders, builds sustainable relationships to drive increased business performance and best value outcomes.
-People Development: Role models by driving own development plan, focuses on team and individual development. Builds on people’s strengths and supports them to grow and develop in line with their personal and professional potential aligned to the company strategy.
-Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field
-8+ years experience in cloud solutions engineering, DevOps, SRE or related roles.
-Strong technical leadership and people management skills.
-In-depth knowledge of cloud platforms, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
-Proficiency in infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools, such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
-Experience with CI/CD tools, such as Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions
-Knowledge of containerization technologies, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
-Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools, such as Datadog, Dynatrace or ELK Stack.
-Experience with incident management process and tools such as Pagerduty
-Strong understanding of cloud security best practices and compliance frameworks.
-Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
