Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer
Glenrothes - 6 months Inside IR35 – BPSS Required – 37 hours
A leading defence and high‑reliability electronics manufacturer is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Test Engineer to strengthen technical stewardship, improve product quality, and drive efficiency across Unit Build and CCA manufacturing operations. This role is highly product‑focused and requires deep involvement in a functional test environment, supporting both current production and future capability development.
Job Responsibilities
* Enhancing technical support to customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring robust product performance and responsive issue resolution.
* Driving continuous improvement in test quality, throughput, and diagnostic efficiency across Unit Build and CCA manufacturing.
* Taking full life‑cycle ownership of test costs, test efficiency, and test performance, ensuring solutions remain effective and scalable.
* Analysing yields, test times, and diagnostic data to identify improvement opportunities and implement corrective actions.
* Leading high‑level diagnostics to support production teams, resolving complex test and product issues across a wide range of technologies.
* Specifying top‑level test requirements for new products, ensuring smooth and efficient introduction into production.
* Providing technical mentorship and development support to diagnostic technicians and junior engineers.
* Contributing to DFM/DFT activities, ensuring new designs are optimised for testability and manufacturability.
* Supporting bid and proposal activity by providing technical input to business capture teams.
* Acting as an active and collaborative member of the engineering team, helping shape future test strategy and capability.
Skills and Experience
Essential
* HND/Degree in an electronics‑related discipline, ideally Electronic Engineering.
* Strong background in functional test engineering within military, aerospace, or high‑reliability manufacturing.
* Broad, in‑depth knowledge of electronics technologies and high‑level diagnostic methods.
* Highly analytical, able to interpret test data and communicate findings clearly across all levels.
* Proven track record improving test efficiency, yield, and diagnostic speed.
* Confident, proactive, and comfortable challenging existing processes to drive improvement.
* Effective communicator and team player, able to take ownership of issues and support collaborative problem‑solving.
* Skilled in technical presentations and explaining complex test or diagnostic concepts.
Desirable
* Experience defining NPI test requirements and applying DFM/DFT principles.
* Familiarity with multiple test platforms, operating systems, and ESS processes.
* Understanding of Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
* Experience with SAP and shop‑floor data collection systems
