SENIOR MAPPING ENGINEER – PADDINGTON (HYBRID)

THE SENIOR MAPPING ENGINEER ROLE:

As a Senior Mapping Engineer, you’ll take ownership of large-scale, high-accuracy mapping solutions within an edge autonomy stack. The role focuses on maintaining and evolving existing mapping pipelines while extending capability across vision-based and LiDAR-based approaches.

You’ll work closely with perception, localisation, and navigation teams to ensure maps are accurate, scalable, and tightly integrated into real-world autonomous deployments. As a senior member of the team, you’ll help define best practices, guide technical direction, and mentor others.

SENIOR MAPPING ENGINEER ESSENTIAL SKILLS

Strong experience building mapping systems for autonomous or robotic platforms Expertise in LiDAR and point cloud processing (PCL, Open3D, or similar) Experience with vision-based mapping and SLAM techniques Proven background in multi-sensor fusion (LiDAR, cameras, GNSS/INS, odometry) Strong C++ skills with hands-on experience using ROS2 Solid understanding of geometry, estimation, optimisation, and coordinate transforms (TF2)
